As of late

So I am posting this as an update to tell you that I have been mostly on my wordpress blog. I am feeding this blog into my new yahoo profile also. Many things have changed since my last post. I am still on a self search for my own personal beliefs and evolution...
On to the mundane, I am working and saving to basically get my ass back to the United States, that is where my significant other resides. He and I have found to have more in common than we ever thought we did. We are, surprisingly enough, on the same wavelength when it comes to our personal beliefs and core life philosophical structure.
I am currently in a research stage and may not be blogging much, I will be blogging on my wordpress simply because I have more people following me there. I also prefer the layout to this one. But I will be posting new ideas and also definitions that I come across, perhaps a philosophy or two, and thus, do not despair! I will be posting off and on here, and then when I have settled in late february I will continue to blog on a regular basis!
Bare with me!
Blessings.

Right and Left Hand Paths...

The more I chat in these chat rooms of which I am a member, I hear that left hand path is not a proper term. To me, they are, personally, I find that they explain things rather well. For those who do not know what these terms imply, I will tell you with a definition I found on Wikipedia.
(I must mention that on the page, it warns that it may not be finished or the article may have unverified claims. So I would love opinions, and facts, in the comment section of this post.)

"Modern definitions of "Right-Hand Path" elevate spirituality, the strict observance of moral codes, and the worship of deities. The intent of "Right-Hand Path" belief systems is to attain proximity to divinity, or integration with divinity. Conversely, the "Left-Hand Path" belief systems value the advancement and preservation of the self, as well as the pursuit of terrestrial goals. These goals are often achieved either by seeking the guidance of one or more deities (or archetypes of deities) via ritualistic practices, or more commonly, via non-theistic uses of instincts and logic." (Wikipedia)

According to that article, the terms started with Buddhism and Hindu beliefs. Keep in mind that this article says at the top, that it is not yet completed and that the information is not all yet verified. So my point of this blog is not only to post what I have found, but also post my personal opinion.
It goes on to say, the term Left Hand Path was adopted into western culture to describe paths that are "immoral". Of course, by that I can gather which religious path considers certain others to be immoral.
In my terms, Right Hand Path are paths such as Christianity, and basically anything new age. The reason I find is that I see these paths as those that worship a deity that is considered better than themselves. And the Left Hand Path, are those that are not worshiping said deities but are establishing "Godhead" or their own Divinity. Left Hand Path followers consider themselves either to be gods or on their way to be a god. While the Right Hand Path, is basically doomed to serve those they worship.
"According to the latter view, the Right-Hand Path's imposition of formal dogmas and codes of behavior impede individual decision-making, making it possible for one to avoid responsibility for one's own life, with a consequent loss of individuality."
Oooo lucky me, there is also a list of what each path contains. Will post them here:

Right Hand Path.

  • Belief in a higher power, such as a deity.

  • Obedience to the will of a higher power.

  • The belief that there is an absolute definition of good and evil that applies to everyone.

  • Esoteric belief in a supernatural mechanism like Karma, divine retribution, or the Threefold Law, which entails the assessment of moral decisions made in one's lifetime.

  • Eschatological beliefs, resulting to salvation for some and to damnation for others.

Left Hand Path

  • The conviction that individuals can become (or already are) akin to gods.

  • The conviction that there is no such thing as a selfless act. Fulfilling one's desire is acknowledged to be selfish, at the least reaping an individual sense of satisfaction. Altruism is considered self-deception, created and fostered by conventional religions.

  • A less rigid definition of the self; a purported realization that there are sometimes collective identities which can also, just as validly, have the label "self" applied to them.

  • An exoteric interpretation of concepts like karma, divine retribution, or the Threefold Law, resulting in flexible rather than rigid codes of ethics.

  • The conviction that the individual is preeminent, and that all decisions should be made with the goal of cultivating the self (though not necessarily the ego).

  • The conviction that each individual is responsible for his or her own happiness, and that no external force will provide salvation or reward actions which do not advance one's own happiness in this life.

  • The conviction that the forces of the universe can be harnessed to one's personal will by magical means, and that power gained and wielded in such a manner is an aid to enlightenment, to self-satisfaction, and to self-deification.

  • A Platonic view of deities as "first-forms." If deity is perceived as having consciousness, then all relationships with the deity are in the form of a partnership, or an alliance which does not require subservience. Some practitioners of Left-Hand Path belief systems summarize this concept with the statement that "prideful deities like prideful partners."

To me, its pretty legitimate, but that sort of thing seems to be in the eye of the beholder thus far. I have noticed that mostly the term is focused with Satanism. Which makes sense to me, being that it is a "self" religion.

I expect that it is obvious of which hand path I would follow by the feel of this article I am posting, but do not get me wrong, as I am sure some might have already. I do not consider any path to be below another. I find that paths tend to be a part of that person, and be what that person NEEDS to live in this life. I wouldn't try to force a view on anyone else. Be it Right or Left, we are all human beings trying to live in this world the best way we know how. So whether you consider yourself a god, or you worship a god, that's your prerogative.
The Left hand path is not immoral, or evil, they are people who are bettering themselves in the ways that they see fit, its a "spirituality" that is not meant for everyone. It takes a certain kind of personality to fill in the seats at a church, just as it takes an opposite personality to stay away from said churches. It is just a matter of character, which one is better is not the question. What it is that defines you, hold on to it, and use it. Whatever your "purpose" may be, do what you can to achieve it.

Terminology?

I find it rather interesting that new terms are just starting to pop up everywhere for everything. As time goes by we get new slang words and new “religions” happen to be coming up as well. I have decided to explain the terms because there seems to be debate within the online pagan communities. So here it is, along with just my personal opinion.
Being from Iceland, I know all about Ásatrú. It is basically in my heritage, my blood. I do not have to be a member of the fellowship to know that there is not a branch called “wiccatru.” For those of you that have not heard the term, it is something that was made up to be some kind of an insult to Wiccans that seem to be using Nordic influence in their rituals. Now, I do not condone the insulting of other religions. My main point of this blog is to explain these terms, and what they really are. And to maybe clear up a few misconceptions on, what seems to be, a lot of peoples view.
I am a member of a pagan chat room, several, in fact, and I am also a moderator of said chats. And I came across someone who seems to be misled or misunderstanding things. Needless to say, we debated “wiccatru” as well as Wicca and Ásatrú. I have also been reading blogs by upset pagans, that seem to be getting “fed up” with people insulting others paths. So to clear it up, Ásatrú is not a racist religion. And if there is any racism within any kindred, that is on the individual and his own tastes, because the fellowship does not condone prejudice in any way. Now when it comes to the term of “wiccatru”, I do find it rather funny that people under such a religion as Wicca are mixing their religion with that of others. There is such a thing as eclecticism, but the terms are being thrown around like they don’t even matter. Wicca is an oath bound mystery religion, and has traditions and rituals within each coven. There is such a thing as solitary and eclectic wicca, do not get me wrong, but the terms are strictly perceived by some to mean certain things, and the traditional covens tend to get up in arms when a solitary uses the word Wicca to describe their path. My opinion on that matter appears to be moot. Whether I like it or not, things are a certain way. So if you are a solitary calling yourself a Wiccan, by all means, do so, just do not be surprised to run across a Traditional Wiccan that is not so accepting of the term. To me it seems to be a simple case of elitism. But its within their own right. I do not think that you have to be in a coven to be a “real” wiccan. But to be a traditional Wiccan you certainly do need to be initiated into a coven.
To be honest, I do not care what you call yourself. You can call yourself a christian-wiccan if you want to, but in a chat room full of pagans and wiccans that have been such for over two decades, please use your words wisely. A solitary practitioner seems to be a “politically correct” term for any witch that is in it for themselves and works alone. Coming into a chat room boasting about demons, vampires, and shape shifting will only get you pounced by those who “know different”. I have been a “noob” myself in these chats, and have been pounced myself. Basically, I was ripped a new one.
Neo-Wiccan. That is the term for the solitary wicca practitioners. Where the term originated, I do not know, I could venture a guess that the Trad. Wiccans use it to explain the phenomenon of the solitaries that pop up within their faith. Basically putting Neo on the beginning of any religion, is basically saying that it has been changed somehow. So I think it is fitting. But it seems the term offends others, especially those who are solitary, they think the term means “not real”. So to clarify, neo-wicca is a perfectly okay religion, being that it basically explains that it is not like the Traditional form, and is not offensive in any manner. I am somewhat of a traditionalist, so I guess that affects my opinion on the matter. People seem to think that Wicca is a “whatever you feel” religion, when that is not the case. It was created as a strict, ritual, and oath bound mystery religion and so going with what you feel is not always that simple. Now, “new age” seems to fit the do what you feel standards, but then, Wicca in itself is a rather new religion. It is not thousands of years old. Its only like 60 years old or so. Google Gerald Gardner to learn more.
The whole point of this post is to talk about “wiccatru”. Now that term was meant as an insult. I, do not mind, if you use the Nordic gods in your Wiccan path. But it seems to be a big issue for some people. So here is the skinny: Ásatrú is also a Traditional religion. Full of teachings passed down through the generations. It is not like Wicca. Whether there are similarities or not. Nordic Heathenism, is a pagan way of life, not just a religion, it is a life that people live. It is so much more than just going to a gathering in the favor of Odin. It is in what you say and do, it is in how you treat others, family, friends, and is about loving your fellow man. Also its about a healthy kind of pride in your heritage and you ancestry. Which seems to be mistaken for racism. Blame Hitler for that one.
For some reason, people think that wiccatru is a religion. I argued that fact with someone not too long ago. They even go as far as to say that it is a branch of Asatru. It is not. There are no “branches” that mix with other religions. Especially not Wicca. Now you can mix it, so to speak, with Celtic Paganism because we share a similar ancestry. Just think about it this way, if the two religions you feel so drawn to contradict one another, it is not wise to throw them into a melting pot. Because watering down the religion into your own, would make it not that religion anymore, correct? So, Eclecticism is a debatable issue with many. I find it all well and good for the individual, even a coven, but remember that calling it Wicca may get you into a heated argument with others. So why not call it Eclectic Paganism? I think that sounds better anyway. People like the term Wicca because they associate rainbows, butterflies, and love with that word. When that is just a sugarcoating. Remember, there is not good without the bad, dark without light, etc etc. So maintain the balance, and do not snuff one side out just because you are frightened of it. If you are new, dont jump into the labels just yet. You will find, within your own pace, the label that fits you. Be it wicca, paganism, or whatever.
In my own personal opinion, a year and a day is not nearly long enough to find your footing within a path, even if it is of your own choosing. And do not be so prideful to where you ignore the help of others, there are genuine people online who can help you find your way. And there are people who know more than you, so do not jump up offended because they tell you that you have an idea misconstrued. Because truly, do you want to go down a path misunderstood, and end up at the beginning all over again, just because you ignored the advice of those who really tried to help you?

Mispelling

So it has recently come to my attention that people are being told that the spelling of the word craft, is also spelled crafte and considered acceptable. I had never heard of that before and I wasnt going to fight with anyone about it, because how would I know, right?
So I googled it. And found NO reference for the word Crafte. Weird eh? Then I asked someone I know about it, they said it was an old way of spelling for people in hiding during the burning times. Okay, that could pass as a possible, but how do we know for sure because back then, nothing was written and passed down due to fear of an execution. So I googled even more, and found Crafte on Wiktionary.com (which is obviously a sister site of wikipedia, which is not always reliable) and it said that crafte is an obsolete spelling of the word. By that meaning that it is no longer used. Okay, but when was it used, shouldnt there at the very least be some form of saying where it originated.. greek, latin, gaelic, something? So on that same page it had a list.. it said its located in the list of English words that arent spelled that way anymore.. but other than that, no origin. So I will conclude that it was a made up word back then.. mispelled on purpose, like perhaps by someone in hiding from being killed for being a witch? Maybe, but until I see that in writing I wont so far as to believe it. It is not on dictionary.com but it is on wiktionary.com , but it doesnt mean either one, wether its real or not real, its in question. My own personal view: the word is spelled c r a f t so spell it that way.

Know Thyself

So here I am, yet again, trying to post something worth reading. I have no thoughts really. I have those days where things just seem to slip out with pure randomness. I am in a chat room right now, and I am discussing things of religious paths. So its interesting to say the least, but to be honest, it has all been said before. We are all helping a newbie find her path, which means lots and lots of research for the young one. By young, I mean new to her path. So as I sit here and redundantly type the same thing every day I begin to lose interest. Perhaps I am not feeding my own thirst for knowledge. I know all this stuff already, so where do I look to find more? If there is anyone out there with a good reading list of all pagan religions, please let me know. I would love to read of any religion really. The more I know, the more I incorporate into my own database. I grow weary of the basics of wicca, im beginning to know them too well… these are rules that I do not follow. But I can spit them to others as if I am learned in that degree. When it comes to traditional wicca, I do not know the inner court material. But that can be expected, due to having to be initiated into a coven to learn these things, and it is different within each tradition. In my own path, mine is that of research and knowledge. I love to learn. I do not practice in a sense of casting spells. I read. I know how to, but I do not need to. I meditate. I trance. I ground. I manipulate energy. That is all I need to do, and all that I want to do.
I love to meet others of like mind, as well as diversity. When it comes to individualism, I hold true to my own. I do not force my views on anyone, and I do not tell anyone they are wrong. I do not give advice unless asked, and in turn I expect that same respect. But just because I do unto others as I would have them do unto me, does not mean they do the same. I seem to be fighting constant battles with those around me who see fit to force their judgments on my behalf. I do not understand the need for pushing views on others. I do not see the point in doing stuff like that at all. When it comes to religion and spirituality, I see it as a personal belief system… and only control freaks are the ones who think they are right and you are wrong.
Either way it goes, since I know what I need to know about myself, I am willing to stick up for my beliefs. I am a firm believer in having your own faith, and to never conform to those that think its politically correct to be a certain religion. Why go against your own morals and beliefs? To make others happy? You had better make yourself happy, because in the end, you have to like yourself in the morning.

Ladder Reading

I had a friend of mine do a numerology reading on me and it was pretty cool. For those who do not know: numerology is the adding of your numbers in your name and birthday, each letter is a 1 through 9 and the total will either be 1 through 9, 11, or 22. Eleven and twenty-two are master numbers(some numerologists don't use those numbers but I like to use them in my reports).
I have figured up my four core numerology numbers and a few others. I asked a friend to make a numerology grid for me, I gave her the proper information and was surprised by the results.
My reading turns out to be a ladder.
Which is two numbers on one line, two on another, all the way up. But I do not know exactly how it looks, she sent me the reading through my email and this is it:

1-9 – Your Spiritual Step. With the 1, you have a strong sense of self, personal identity: you know who you are and what you are capable of. You have a very independent nature, but are secure enough in your personal resources to know when you need to ask for help. You’re grounded very well in just “being,” that realization that you are who you are and making the best of yourself. That in itself is a hard won gift! With the 9, you have a very deep, very natural spirituality that is centered around divine love. This flows into you, through you, and back out into the world in a never-ending cycle. Your Karma is very strong, guiding you with any number of divine gifts that you have earned from past lives. With these two opposing numbers on your spiritual step, your path can at times be a rocky one. You’ll be examining things, trying them out, discarding what you can’t use, and completely crafting your spiritual life to fit you and you alone. Where your spirituality is concerned, your individualism demands that it be your way or nothing at all. While it can make things hard at times, once you find that right path for yourself everything will flow easily because you designed it for yourself.

2-5 – Your Inner Self Step, the part of you that is hidden from the world unless you bring it out. With the 2, you have a deeply caring nature. You are a very loving person, deeply in tune with your emotions and the feelings of others. You also have a strong sense of the duality in life, that things must stay in a balance to keep steady. 2’s sometimes have a tendency toward imbalance because of the deep emotional meanings of the number, so your emotions can pull you in many different directions at times. At other times, it can feel like complete emotional detachment. Because your feelings can be so deep, others may see it as coldness or indifference until they really get to know how you tick. With the 5, you have a love of learning and drive to discover as much as you can. You’re a very tactile person and you learn best when you can be hands on with things. You watch, listen, and take everything in, and this also seems to be a form of meditation for you. You have a flexible and tolerant nature at times, allowing you to bend easily when things get hectic for you and adapt in changing situations for yourself and for others. You may find yourself having more patience for others than you do for yourself. At the same time, with the 2 creating imbalance at some points, you may also feel a need for walls and space of your own where others leave you alone. That imbalance can also lend itself to impatience and frustration when you can’t keep things on a steady and even keel. You like things orderly and running smoothly, and when they don’t you can feel as though everything around you is just off. When these numbers are in balance, life is easy. Out of balance and you may feel rushed and hectic. The key is patience with yourself.

7-8 – Your Outer Self step, or how you present yourself to the world. With the 7, you have a need for limits and boundaries, and when people and circumstances overstep those boundaries it can throw your life out of kilter. This is also the bridge to the spiritual realm, which leads further up your ladder to your spiritual step, and indicates that you may need some alone time to really allow that area to flourish. You present yourself as a spiritual person, but the deeper parts of your spirituality are private for you, your own path on your own terms. With the 8, you have a gift for balance. This seems to be something that you may have mastered rather than struggling with as most 8’s do. You know what works for you to get yourself centered again and you follow your own set of rules and convictions. You also have a gift for material transcendence; you know that you have to survive in the material world, but that holds very little importance for you. You also have a very strong link with Dharma, or doing what has to be done. This sense of divine justice, doing what is right, leads you to think of others, working for them even harder than you do for yourself and sometimes exhausting yourself in the process. The downside of being counted on is that some will take advantage of your nature and only you can decide when enough is enough and Dharma finally has to be applied to your own self. These numbers generally balance well all on their own, especially if you know what boundaries you need to set to take care of what you need to take care of. With both of these numbers on your Outer Self step, few people will be able to be around you without sensing your spiritual nature or without being affected by it in some small way.

4-6 – Your Physical Step. This is how you impact the physical world. With the 4, you are practical, realistic, and grounded well in the material world. Your instincts serve you well in situations that are unclear and you have to make those “gut decisions.” With the 6, you have a gift for abstract thought that has probably only led you deeper into your spiritual learning. You can grasp difficult concepts that most people can’t. You have a very strong imagination and are gifted with dreams, a mark of a powerful diviner! The intellectual creativity of the 6 leads you to find some very creative solutions to the problems you encounter, and you may find yourself having a passion for puzzles that stimulate the intellect. These numbers work well together, mind and instinct, when in balance. Out of balance, the two can really argue. Your instincts may tell you one thing while your logic leads you elsewhere. In balance, you will feel grounded and practical, logically working your way through things, creatively solving problems. On the opposite side of that, you can feel as though your mind is constantly throwing riddles at you that distract you while trying to get through a normal average day. Keeping them in balance is no easy task. Trusting your instincts and making sure that you always at least listen to them helps, as does allowing time or some specific activity that will feed the over-analytical side of your thinking, such as logic puzzles or math problems.

3-11 – Your Soul Step, what your soul needs to thrive. With the 3, you are very creative and enjoy those things that allow your creativity to come alive. You have a personal drive to succeed that leads you to do the absolute best you can at everything you turn your hand to. There are times when you know that your best is as far as you can go and you don’t beat yourself to death over it, but at other times you can drive yourself crazy if it isn’t absolutely perfect. You’re a natural born leader when you know you can lead, but follow well when you know that it is time to let someone else take the reins. With the 11, you are the Master Teacher. This is a higher path of spiritual enlightenment that is usually a very lonely path to walk: a search for truth. This being the driving force for your soul can lead you on a very interesting journey through life. At times you will be walking that path alone, learning so that you can lead later on. Other times there will be folks walking with you, learning along with you. With these numbers naturally complimenting each other, it will make things much easier on your spiritual path. Your creativity will feed your spirituality, which will in turn feed your creativity. The only downside to this combination is that endless search for truth and perfection from both numbers. Allowing yourself “down time” from that search and having patience with yourself will give you the tools you need.

Your number grid formed a Ladder of Self, every number equal to another number all the way up. With the ladders, the key is keeping the numbers on each step in balance so that the particular step can thrive. Your ladder has its steps spaced out fairly evenly so that your opposing numbers can have a little more room to move, giving you more chances and space to find the balance you need. The Ladder is about climbing, learning, and struggling to attain something. It occurs when someone has attained a plateau for enlightenment in a previous life and is “climbing the spiritual ladder” in this one to gain a better or stronger enlightenment. Folks with this formation find their spiritual selves fairly early in life, but work their entire lives at perfecting it.

I must say.

First here is the definition that some people are unaware of:

Pagan-- one of a people or community observing a polytheistic religion, as the ancient Romans and Greeks. a person who is not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim. an irreligious or hedonistic person.

There are many many types of pagans out there. They consist mainly of those that are not of the abrahamic religions. Now not everyone outside of those monotheistic religions calls themselves a pagan, however, pagan is an umbrella term for those religions, whether they call themselves that or not. Pagan being an umbrella term as it is, you can get a more technical look at each religion that is within the pagan community. And there are so many! The neo pagans are what is the newer version of older religions, Wicca being only 60 years old or so would be one of those, along with Asatru (the norse pagans). And of course many many more. There are a number of people who misunderstand a lot of what they read, and believe Wicca to be the oldest religion in the world, when that is not the case. Wicca was created by Gardner, who took his philosophies and studies of the old religion of Witchcraft, along with other things and started Wicca. Which is a newer version of older religion. Just to clarify. But that does not mean it is not important, for it is a valid religion. And a very good one at that. There are certain rules that one has to follow, I consider it actually very good for one to learn discipline in a world where discipline is lacking. Neo Wicca, is a solitary practitioner, for the simple fact that Traditional Wicca is a just that, traditional, and to be involved in that, one must be initiated into a coven. My advice when searching for a wiccan path, STUDY your butt off. The only material you will find is outer court material, because in Wiccan covens there are traditions passed down only through them, and you will not find it in any books. You can not self initiate, the word initiation means to be brought into a group. You can self dedicate, which is another thing entirely. And I must say that spell work is not a joke, its not something to dabble with. If you are serious about a religion then do just that, study and learn as much as you can, because you do not want any form of a spell to blow up in your face. Its not a party trick.
I, am not a wiccan, however, I enjoy studying what is out there.
Currently, I study the old norse paganism(or about as old as I can find), and Theistic Satanism. In correct term I guess I would be called an Odnist/theistic satanism study. Or at least that is in the about me sections of my pages on my site and the ones that I am a member of. One thing that ticks me off to no end, is the misunderstandings of people within their ignorance. To say it here so I wont have to say it later. Satanism is not devil worship, not the christian version of evil or any such nonsense. What it is, is the study and basically worship of ones self. Being your own god, and bettering yourself and living life to the fullest, without the misrepresentation of the church. There is also Luciferianism, which is a spiritual form of satanism. But not so much as to any worship( depending on the individual) it is a spiritual free thinker. I will post more on that subject later.
I am a compassionate person and I love the human race. I have christian friends, and I enjoy their company. But the moment that anyone decides to tell me that my faith or religion is wrong is the moment that I pounce.
In all truth, my "label" changes a lot, the more I studied, the more I realized that I had no idea what my path truly is. I simply called myself a STUDY of so and so. I joined a group on one site, a Luciferianism group, and the more I read on that, the more I see myself and my morals, my principals, my life. So in a sigh of relief, I found it, my path. (So when I get the permission from the author to post the information, I will do so. ) I have always delved deep into my own mind to find what I truly am, that being one of my main obsessions, shadow work. I am a self explorer and that entails many many things and would take forever to explain.
I will end it at this for now. And pick it back up later. Blessings, Dru.
